Nice park. Pity about all the plastic. Trang REALLY has a plastic pandemic. Other than that, the park is beautiful and well kept. I camped a few nights, toilets clean and presentable. Camping fee is only 30b per night. Don’t bother with the manatee sightings trek, the walkway is unfinished and ramshackle. The blue plastic pier is a terrible ‘temporary ‘ eyesore. Im not a salty farrang..but small things can be done to improve this place. I mean there is an entrance fee…(farrangs pay 200b )

Sight Seeings At Si Prachan
The very beautiful nature is the reason why Hat Chao Mai National Park is one of my favorite sea side national parks in Thailand. I visited first time 20 years ago and was very happy to see that nothing had changed in the years that have passed. The beach is cleaned regularly so you can really enjoy the view of a clean beach with white sand 🙂

Beautiful and clean! Can bring your own food or buy at snack shack. 3.1 mile hiking trail that overlooks the water. Plan for 3 to 4 hours. Must pay a nominal fee to get in, highly recommend!

National Park At Chiang Khan
As usual with Thai national parks, too expensive for what it really is. Just a short walk on the neighboring island, maybe 15-20min. If it costs the same as for Thai people, then it would be adequate.

I completely agree with the Thai policy regarding the protection of the country’s natural territory. Without the parks there would be private resorts, so it would be a disaster. I do not understand, however, why the Park Authority adopts a method which seems to be not friendly with foreign visitors. Foreigners Prices are 5 times higher than Thai people prices. No brochures in English. No paper map to deliver to the visitor. Display boards written almost entirely in Thai language. Staff at the check point who cannot speak English. Quite listless staff. In practice, the foreigner is asked to blindly pay for the ticket and to find out later if the place is interesting or not. I don’t find this a correct way to do. Maybe the Parks Authority doesn’t want foreign visitors? Perhaps someone has forgotten that tourism in Thailand is worth 20% of its GDP? Under these conditions I prefer not to enter the park, I’m sorry but I just can’t.
